Trade Name Guidelines
Your proposed trade name must follow these DET (Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism) rules:
- The name must be respectful, free of any obscene, indecent, or offensive language
- It cannot reference Allah, God, or divine attributes in any form
- Personal, family, or tribal names are not allowed unless they belong to the actual licence holder
- The name must be unique, not similar to existing Dubai brands, government projects, or international trademarks
- Names must be transliterated, not translated (e.g., “Al Samaa Al Aalya,” not “The High Sky”)
- The name must logically reflect your actual business activity, a construction supplier, for example, can’t register under a name implying a different trade
- Political or religious/sectarian references are strictly restricted
DET reserves the right to cancel or amend any trade name found to conflict with existing registrations, even after approval.
